The OutComm® visual mapping
process has been developed using international and local tools and techniques.
The process is practical, flexible and robust, with 6 phases…
Brief
A comprehensive brief is taken
with the client, to determine the issue, the objectives and 'outcomes'
or deliverables required. This results in the development of the
workshop agenda and questions.
Divergent Thinking
The OutComm®
facilitator poses an 'open' ended question, stimulating divergent
and lateral thinking. The responses to the question are written on
oval cards using marker pens. The cards are then gathered & clustered
on the adhesive sheets.
Analysis
Once ideas, which are similar have been clustered
on the sheets… a process of 'unpacking' and analysis is often
required to ensure common understanding and clarity of the ideas (problems
or solutions) - this may involve a rating or matrix
Convergent Thinking
With a common understanding, the participants
may now prioritise, rank or sequence the ideas or solutions using
a number of processes including an anonymous voting process.
Action Planning
Action plans are then developed on the prioritised
solutions, using the headings… "What
steps?/ "By
whom?"/ "By
when"/ "What
measures?"
Report
Digital photos are taken of the adhesive sheets
(see below). A hard copy report detailing the workshop outcomes is
typed. The photos and the report are cut onto a CD (MS Word) and delivered
/ couriered to the client within 7 working days of the workshop.
